Hank Baskett
Henry "Hank" Randall Baskett III (born September 4, 1982 in Clovis, New Mexico) [1] is an American football wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at New Mexico.
Baskett has also been a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.Baskett attended Clovis High School in Clovis, New Mexico and was an excellent student and a letterman in football, basketball, and track. In track, Baskett held a state-record leap of 7 feet in high jump at the 2000 state track meet in Albuquerque. In football, he was an All-State selection as both a wide receiver and as a punter. Baskett graduated from Clovis High School in 2001 with a 4.0 GPA.[2]Baskett was the University of New Mexico's leading receiver in 2004 and 2005 earning him the Reese Leroy Hill Memorial Award for being the team's Offensive Player Of The Year during those years, respectively. Additionally, he earned All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior, posting 67 receptions for 1,071 yards and nine touchdowns. A four-time all-academic MWC honoree, he graduated with a degree in General Management.[3]
Baskett had 112 receiving yards and one touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys and 177 receiving yards and one touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons. For his performance in these games, Baskett was awarded rookie of the week honors. He completed his rookie season with 22 receptions for 464 yards (21.1 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.[2]
He was named the 2007 special teams MVP.[2]
In 2008 he started another six games playing in 16 to record 33 receptions, 440 yards, and three touchdowns, for a 13.3 yard average.
He headed into the 2009 offseason as a restricted free agent. He was tendered a one-year contract on February 23. Because the Eagles had been carrying seven wide receivers, he was made expendable and released by the Eagles on September 15, 2009 to make room for Michael Vick to fit on the 53-man roster.[5][6]Baskett co-stars in a spinoff of The Girls Next Door, titled Kendra, which focuses on his wife Kendra Wilkinson's life after leaving the Playboy Mansion and getting engaged to him. The Girls Next Door executive producer Kevin Burns serves in the same capacity on the series.[7] Kendra premiered on June 7, 2009, and had record breaking numbers for E! with 2.6 million viewers, and was the highest-rated reality debut for the network since 2002's premiere of The Anna Nicole Show.[8] E! ordered eight episodes. He is currently working on a second season of the show which will premiere sometime in March.
Baskett's parents are Henry Jr., who worked for the Air Force before becoming director of a social service program, and Judy, who works as a financial officer at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico.[2]
Baskett married The Girls Next Door star and Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson on June 27, 2009.[9] Although it was initially announced that Hugh Hefner would give the bride away, Wilkinson stated that she was having second thoughts about having Hefner walk her down the aisle.[10] In the end, her brother Colin gave her away. The couple have one child together, Hank Baskett IV (born December 11, 2009). [11]
